BIOGRAPHY At 22 years of age, Des-C has co-written the Hindi smash hit ‘Move Your Body’ for the Bollywood gangster flick 'Johnny Gadaar'. He is one of the youngest, phenomenal songwriters to emerge from the Asian music scene. Formerly of the Mentor Kolektiv, he has already had massive success with the group’s debut album ‘Broke’ and single ‘Pasand’. Des-C’s lyrics are self penned and innovative. Being adept in his mother tongue, language delivery and storytelling, skills that are now a rarity, are what make Des-C stand out from the pack. Making the decision to focus his entire life on music was a tumultuous experience. Deciding to leave university to put all his efforts into performing was something that he later realised wouldn't always help put food on the table so to speak. Therefore, holding down a 'normal' job alongside his struggle to stardom would enable him to do what he loves and make a living. The ball was set rolling for Des-C when producer Mentor stumbled across his promo and was intrigued by what he was hearing. He called Des-C and they began working together. Whilst Mentor laced the beats, Des-C churned out his impressive response. Mentor wanted to form a group that would leave a positive impression on the Asian and Urban music scene with a fusion of both Desi vocals and Urban beats previously unheard of. |
Des-C’s skills aren’t restricted to the microphone. As well as singing in 3 languages, he is also an exceptional songwriter whose skills have impressed Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy, India’s equivalent to Grammy winning songwriters. The results have been a hit single 'Move Your Body'. 'First Flight', Des-C's debut, solo album is due for release in March 2008 with contributed production from Jags Klimax, Tigerstyle, D-Boy and Alan Sampson (producer of Jay Sean's - Ride It) to name a few. After hearing his exceptional effort at a solo album, it is safe to say a new generation of Asian, desi music will be born. No longer will the industry be forced into starvation with a lack of innovatively produced beats matched with equally original lyrics and breathtaking vocals. |
